SECTION 3 - ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS AND TIMELINESS OF INFORMATION
The products available for purchase on this site, including books, e-books, and videos, are intended solely as study aids and do not serve as authoritative sources. The information provided is not intended to inform clinical practice or replace professional clinical judgment. Always adhere to the clinical practice guidelines specific to your local ambulance service or healthcare authority.
We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information on this site. The material is offered for general informational purposes only and should not be used as the sole basis for decision-making. It is your responsibility to consult primary, more accurate, or more current sources of information before making any decisions. Any reliance on the information provided on this site is at your own risk.
Please be aware that this site may contain historical information, which may not reflect current practices or standards. While we reserve the right to modify the content of this site at any time, we are not obligated to update any information. You are responsible for monitoring any changes to the site.
By purchasing the ECG pocketbook (relating to all versions, including the ECG pocketbook 2nd edition and all digital forms of the books) you acknowledge that:
This book is designed as a study guide and is not medical advice. It is not intended to be used by non-healthcare professionals. Specifically, it has been designed to help student paramedics interpret ECGs under the supervision of their paramedic mentor. It has been written for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.
The ECG recognition criteria displayed in each diagram within this book are not diagnostically exhaustive. They have been designed to simplify recognition.
The author would like to emphasise the importance of history-taking and patient presentation when interpreting ECGs and politely reminds the reader that every ECG should be assessed alongside the patient's presentation.
The author wishes to make it clear that the ECGs in this book are not exhaustive, meaning this book does not contain every ECG abnormality that exists. The user should, therefore, also consider ECG abnormalities not contained within this book when making preferred and/or differential ECG diagnoses.
The information in this book is based solely on the author's personal experience as a student and qualified paramedic in the United Kingdom. It is, therefore, not authoritative and should not inform clinical practice or replace clinical judgement.
Neither Liam Mellor (the author) nor L Mellor Ltd (the publisher) guarantees this book's clinical accuracy, nor do they accept responsibility for any clinical decision made based on the information it contains.
The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in this books content. The information contained in this bbook is provided on an "as is" basis with no guarantees of completeness, accuracy, usefulness or timeliness.
It is the user's responsibility to cross-reference all of its information with appropriate evidence-based literature and local guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical care.
The author would like to make it clear that any health conditions mentioned in this book are not exhaustive, and the user should also consider conditions not contained within this book when making preferred or differential diagnoses.
The author wishes to make it clear that the signs, symptoms, and causes listed under conditions and ECG abnormalities in this book are not exhaustive. Additional, atypical, or alternative signs, symptoms, causes and ECG abnormalities may also occur and should be considered by the user.
The author wishes to make it clear that establishing a definitive medical diagnosis in the pre-hospital setting is likely to require further hospital assessment and can rarely be made based on ECG findings alone. As such, this book only aims to assist the user in considering unconfirmed ECG, and ECG related medical diagnoses.
It may be the case that a preferred ECG diagnosis is unachievable solely based on the information in this book. This book does not claim to contain information on every possible normal, and abnormal ECG diagnosis.
By purchasing the History taking and diagnosis pocketbook (relating to all versions including version 2.0, and the History-taking and diagnostic support for student paramedics 3rd edition (including digital in digital form), you acknowledge that:
This book is designed as a study guide and is not medical advice. It is not intended to be used by non-healthcare professionals. Specifically, it has been designed to help student paramedics take a patient history and assist them in forming preferred and differential diagnoses under the supervision of their paramedic mentor.
It has been written for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.
The information is based solely on the author's personal experience as a student and qualified paramedic in the United Kingdom. It is, therefore, not authoritative and, in isolation, should not inform clinical practice or replace clinical judgment.
The information contained in this book is provided on an "as is" basis with no guarantees of completeness, accuracy, usefulness or timeliness.
It is the user's responsibility to cross-reference all of its information with appropriate evidence-based literature and local guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical care.
The author wishes to make it clear that the history-taking questions in this book are not exhaustive, and further or alternative questions may be necessary to inform clinical judgment.
The author would like to make it clear that the health conditions mentioned within this book are not exhaustive, and the user should also consider conditions not contained within this book when making preferred and/or differential diagnoses.
The author wishes to make it clear that the signs and symptoms listed under each condition in this book are not exhaustive. Additional, atypical, or alternative signs and symptoms may also occur and should be considered by the user. In addition, the signs and symptoms listed under each condition do not all need to be present for that condition to be considered a potential diagnosis.
The author wishes to make it clear that establishing a definitive medical diagnosis in the prehospital setting requires further hospital assessment. As such, this book only aims to assist the user in considering an unconfirmed diagnosis, often described as 'preferred', 'working impression', and/or 'differential diagnoses'. It may be the case that a preferred diagnosis is unachievable based solely on the information within this book, as it does not claim to contain information on every possible medical diagnosis.
The patient report form (PRF) templates in this book are not authoritative and are merely an example of how the author structures his own PRFs in practice.
The assessments in this book are to be used solely as study guides. They have been modified for simplicity and should not inform clinical practice. Please look at other sources of information and consider your skill level to ensure your assessments are accurate and in line with your health authority. Where relevant, these assessments have been placed within some chapters. The author wishes to make it clear that the absence of assessment pages in other chapters does not mean assessments and observations should be excluded in practice.
The structure of this book assumes no immediate life-saving clinical interventions are required, an initial primary survey has already been completed, and consent has been gained where appropriate.
